I have been asked to create a presentation on a games company of my choice and do research into the people who helped to make the game what it is.
The company I decided to focus my research on was Bethesda Game Studios and their massively successful game franchise Fallout. For my research, I focused a lot on Fallout 4 which is the newest addition to the series. Released on November 10, 2015, Fallout 4 has gone on to high praise and rightfully so as the game took what players loved about the previous installments and improved on them.
My research of the game took me to a lead artist named Istvan Pely who worked on Fallout 4 as well as some of Bethesdas other games such as Fallout Shelter and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Although Istvan Pely works for Bethesda Game Studios, he has had a history with Bethesda Softworks, who are the publishers of the games mentioned previously.
Istvan Pely had created his own games in the past, as my research has found that Istvan Pely before joining Bethesda Game Studios in 2006, was working on his own games such as Zero Critical and Symbiocom both published by Bethesda Softworks but created by ‘Istvan Pely Productions’
If we look at Zero Critical you could easily see how Istvan Pely could have been inspired by the original Fallout as seen in the images below. Both games have a similar look, both having a dark gritty aesthetic.
From this, we could easily see how Istvan Pely knew how to design the world of Fallout 4 and like I said earlier taking what the fans loved and modernized it.
